What is a digital pressure sensor?

A digital pressure sensor, or digital pressure transmitter, is a precise pressure measuring device used to measure pressures. This involves converting mechanical pressure into electrical signals and transmitting them in a digital format. In contrast to sensors with an analog output signal, digital pressure sensors transmit as a digital measured value. These values are formatted according to commonly known and standardized procedures or protocols, making them easy to integrate into existing systems

Digital pressure sensor: How does it work?

Digital pressure sensors consist of a sensor element that reacts to mechanical pressure and converts it into an electrical signal. This signal is digitized by an integrated microprocessor and transmitted according to specific protocols such as J1939 or, as in pressure sensors with the CANopen protocol. Transmission requires special cabling that ensures high data integrity and speed.
