What is a low-pressure sensor?

A low-pressure sensor, or low-pressure transmitter, is a special sensor that precisely measures low pressure ranges and converts them into an electrical signal that is proportional to the measured pressure. These sensors are highly sensitive and can detect even very small changes in pressure. At the same time, low-pressure transmitters are compact and robust so that they can work reliably in a wide range of environments. They can be ordered as digital pressure sensors or analog pressure sensors, depending on the requirements.

How a low-pressure sensor works

Low-pressure sensors detect the pressure of a medium via a sensitive membrane, which deforms when pressure changes. This deformation is carried out by piezoresistive elements transformed into an electrical signal. This will be then amplified and converted into a standardized output signal, such as 4-20 mA or 0-10 V, or for seamless integration into various industrial control systems like CAN with a CAN pressure sensor, CANopen and J1939. These signals can then be forwarded to control systems or data acquisition devices.

What is a low pressure sensor used for?

Our low-pressure sensors are robust and can be used to monitor and control processes in various industrial applications:

  • Air conditioning monitoring: Precise measurement and control of pressure in air conditioning systems and HVAC systems.
  • Environmental technology: Monitoring of pressure conditions in environmental protection systems.
  • Medical technology: Used in devices for monitoring respiratory gases and other medical applications.
  • Food and beverage industry: Monitoring and regulating or controlling pressure in production and filling plants.
  • Laboratory Applications: Used in various scientific and research-related applications that require precise pressure measurements.
  • Automotive: Monitoring of pressure in fuel systems, e.g. behind the fuel filter, or in the exhaust system and air conditioning systems.
