What is a High Temperature Pressure Sensor?

A high-temperature pressure sensor, or high-temperature pressure transmitter, is a specially designed sensor that measures pressure at very high temperatures. These sensors are made of high-temperature-resistant materials and are designed to provide reliable data even in the most demanding environments. The measured pressure values are converted into electrical signals that  can be used to monitor and control industrial processes. 

How does a high-temperature pressure sensor work?

A high-temperature pressure sensor works by sensing the pressure of a medium through a high-temperature-resistant membrane. The deformation of the diaphragm due to the pressure is converted into an electrical signal by piezoresistive sensor elements. This signal is amplified and converted into a standardized output signal (e.g. 4-20 mA or 0-10 V) that can be used for control systems or data collection devices. Special pressure ports and safety devices ensure accurate measurements even at extreme temperatures. 

What is a high temperature pressure sensor used for?

Our high-temperature pressure sensors are used in numerous areas:

In our range you will find two series of pressure sensors that are specially designed for high test media temperatures: 

SKL-Series: 

For applications at elevated temperatures up to 160 °C permanently and a maximum of approx. 180 °C for short periods , the SKL series offers an ideal solution. An additional cooling section reduces the pressure medium to a temperature that enables long-term use. These high-temperature pressure sensors can be installed and used normally without the need for additional fixations or adapters. Only the installation space is slightly longer in length. 

SKE Series: 

Instead, if you need high-temperature pressure transmitters for applications where the temperature can be around 180°C continuously and up to 200°C  for short periods, the SKE series is the right choice. It can be used at media temperatures of up to 200 °C, and even 400 °C is possible on request for certain specifications. These sensors use high-temperature-resistant sensing elements directly on the media and allow the electronics to be installed remotely in a moderate temperature range. The electronics are separated from the sensor element by a cable.
